Modified bridal make-up is developing rapidly in Indonesia. The modern brides tend to desire traditional touch and still be seen modern and compact. If both bride and groom come from two different tribes, they often compromise by choosing a special make-up that becomes a combination of their hometowns’ signature or their customs.
This compromise will result in a unique make-up that is different from common modified make-up. The bride can have Sundanese hair bun style, with woven Jasmine flowers hair decoration a la Javanese or a bit of flower hair decorations from Padang. This is because these hairdos are so integrated among one region to the next in the Archipelago, the bridal make-up artists will then name this style as National Bride hairdo. Although they’re still wearing the basic regional modified hair bun, the hairdo of these national brides is lighter because they’re not wearing any cunduk mentul (hair ornament / hair pin), crown and tiba dada (long hair ornament made of woven jasmine flowers that hangs loosely) jasmine flower arrangement. The result is lighter and modern make-up without eliminating the impression of elegance and luxurious, the signature of Archipelago’s brides.
This book presents appropriate hairdo for national brides in simple, light styles, yet still glamorous, which is still very correct to be applied to the modern Indonesian brides.
